Golf Drills: Left Hand Chipping Drill

This drill will help you learn how to chip with your left hand only.

Who is this drill best for?

This drill will be best for:

  • Golfers who "flip" while they chip
  • Golfers who blade or chunk their pitch and chip shots frequently
  • Golfers who are inconsistent around the greens

Required Materials and Equipment

For this drill, you will need:

  • A wedge (can be a pitching, gap, sand, or lob wedge)
  • A few golf balls
  • An area to chip

Drill Overview

This drill helps you train your flat left wrist for more consistent short game and ballstriking.

Drill Instructions

  1. Get a few golf balls and a short iron or wedge
  2. Grip it normally, set it up, and then remove your trail (non-dominant) hand from the club
  3. Hit rhythmic chip shots and feel the flat lead wrist through the strike
