Who is this drill best for?
This drill will be best for:
- Golfers who need a quick way to warm up
- Golfers who play at a course without a driving range to use for warmups
Required Materials and Equipment
For this drill, you will need:
- A few short irons or wedges
- (optional) a weighted club
Drill Overview
This quick warmup routine focuses on warming up the upper body and those small wrist muscles. It isn't the best thing in the world, but better than nothing when you're in a hurry to tee off!
Drill Instructions
Here is my simple and quick pre-round warmup routine. I consider this the bare minimum and ideally would recommend incorporating additional exercises to get loose before your round!
Exercise 1: Arm Circles
Grab 2 short irons or wedges and swing them in a circle in both directions with both arms 5-10 times.

Exercise 2: Wrist Rotations
Grab 2 wedges and rotate them slowly back and forth to loosen up your wrists.

Exercise 3: Wrist Curls
Grab 1-2 wedges and slowly "curl" them up and down.

Exercise 4: Shoulder Turns
Grab a long-iron, place on your shoulders, and turn back and forward.

Exercise 5: Back Stretch
Get a long-iron, get those legs wide, and stretch out the back!
